Shiloh Middle School Clubs & Organzations

“Shiloh Middle School strives to support extracurricular excellence by offering a range of activities that enhance students’ social emotional well being. Students are strongly encouraged to share their talents and abilities by participating in at least one extracurricular activity. Our faculty sponsors and coaches aim to provide a safe and supportive environment where students can achieve personal and social success.” 

The following clubs and organizations are active for the 2025-2026 school year.

Art Club - Sponsor:  Sara Perez

Fiber Arts Club

  • We will explore the world of fiber arts! Students will have the opportunity to learn to sew by hand and a machine, crochet, embroider, knit, quilt, weaving and maybe we will even get to tie dye! 
  • Grade levels 6-8th
  • Max students- 15
  • Cost: $30  Cost covers supplies, 1 shirt for dying
  • Meeting: Tuesdays from afterschool-5:30 starting Aug 18th- December 9th for first semester  (I guess we will see how much interest if we are doing second semester?)

 

Baking Club - Sponsor:  Mattie Turner & Sorayel Willoughby

Love baking or want to learn? Join us for fun, friendship, and tasty treats!

  • Who Can Join:  6th–8th graders with a teacher recommendation, passing grades, and no behavior write-ups.
  • When:  Twice a month on Mondays, 4:35–5:35 PM

Parent pickup by 5:45 PM

  • Cost: $30 per semester

Basketball (Boys) - Sponsor:  Courtland Richardson

  • Boys Middle School Basketball Club is designed for students who want to learn, grow, and compete in the sport of basketball. This club focuses on developing fundamental basketball skills such as dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, and teamwork through structured practices and scrimmage play. Our goal is to help students improve their athletic abilities, build confidence, and learn the value of sportsmanship and discipline both on and off the court.
  • This club is open to boys in grades 6–8 and is limited to 15 students to ensure individualized coaching and playing time. Practices will be held during the fall and spring semester on Mondays-Friday from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM in the school gym.


Basketball (Girls) - Sponsor:  Endia Banks & RhonNeisha Sharpless

Purpose & Goal:
The purpose of our girls’ basketball program is to foster athletic development, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship in a supportive and competitive environment. Our goal is to teach fundamental basketball skills, build confidence, and encourage leadership on and off the court, while preparing athletes to compete at a high level and grow as student-athletes.

Grade Levels Eligible to Participate:
Open to all middle school girls in 6th–8th grade.

Dues:
$400 per player
This fee will cover:

Team uniforms
Warmup tops
Backpacks
Team meals
Note: Basketball shoes are not included and must be provided by the athlete.

Conditioning Start Date:  Tuesday, September 2nd  

Practice Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday  4:30 PM – 6:45 PM


Cheerleading - Sponsor:  Deidre Palmore-King

  • Cheerleading is open to 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Middle school cheerleading is a program that aims to promote school spirit, support school athletic teams (primarily basketball), and promote physical activity among students. Middle school cheerleading provides opportunities for students to develop their leadership skills and confidence while fostering a sense of community and pride within the school. The mission of middle school cheerleading is to encourage school spirit, support athletic events, and create a positive and inclusive environment for all students.
  • 20 Cheerleaders are selected at the end of August and cheer until May. Cheerleaders are selected based on overall fitness, cheerleading ability, teacher recommendation, interpersonal skills, good sportsmanship, and good academic standards. To try-out and remain on the cheer squad, a student must have passed 6 out of 7 classes from the 2nd semester of last school year. Academic Achievement should be a priority. Cheerleaders are “Leaders of the school” and expected to uphold high academic and disciplinary standards.
  • COST: $600 (Cheer uniform, liner, briefs, 2-pair socks, bow, cheer shoes, bag, water bottle, Poms, Warm-up Suit)
  • PRACTICE: M-W-TH 4:30pm-6:30pm in the Gym/Cafeteria
  • GAMES: Weekday (Girls-5:30pm Boys-6:45pm) Saturday’s (Girls-9am Boys-10:30am)


Dance Club (The Divine Sapphire Generals) - Sponsors:  Shonniece Hines, Cabrina St. Louis

The Middle School Dance Team is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students and runs for the full school year, from September through May. This program promotes school spirit, supports athletic events, and encourages physical activity among students. Being part of the dance team is more than just performing—it’s about developing leadership skills, building confidence, and fostering pride and community within the school.

Team Size & Selection
Only 15 dancers will be selected for the team. Selection is based on:  Overall fitness, Dance ability, Interpersonal skills, Sportsmanship, Academic standing.  To try out and stay on the team, students must have passed at least 5 out of 6 classes from the second semester of the previous school year. Academic achievement is a top priority. Dancers are expected to be role models and maintain high academic and disciplinary standards.

Commitment & Expectations
Team members must be committed to attending all practices, performances, and events. Consistency and dedication are essential to team success.

Practice Schedule
Practices are held: Monday to Wednesday, Occasional Thursdays  4:30 PM to 6:30 PM

Participation Fee: $500
This includes:  Dance uniform, Practice uniform and shoes, Performance shoes, Warm-up suit, Snacks and more

Ready to Lead, Ready to Dance!
We’re looking for students who are not only passionate about dance but also dedicated to growing as leaders and teammates.


Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) - Sponsor:  Vincent Hill

  • DECA is an organization that encourages students to develop skills in marketing, finance, hospitality and management. DECA helps students by increasing leadership skills and confidence by providing experiences in which students can grow and show their professionalism. Students from 6th-8th grade are welcome to join. 
  • The cost is $24.00 ($12.00 for membership and $12.00 for competition fees. 
  • Our Meetings for DECA are every other Monday after school, starting at 4:30 pm and ending at 6:00 pm in Mr. Hill's classroom.

No experience necessary - we'll teach you everything you need to know. Players work as a team to solve puzzles, explore magical worlds, and develop creative problem-solving skills while having fun with friends.

This club is open to all grade levels. There is no fee to participate. The club meets on Tuesdays & Thursdays; students do not have to attend both days, but can if they like!

FIRST® LEGO® League - Sponsors:  Mr. Kent Coffee & Mr. Willie McCoy

FIRST® LEGO® League introduces STEM to children through fun, exciting hands-on learning. Participants gain real-world problem-solving experiences through a guided, global robotics program using LEGO® technology, helping today’s students build a better future. Project-based FIRST LEGO® League programs introduce students to engineering and coding in engaging, inclusive, and creative learning environments, where students work collaboratively to solve themed challenges. This is open to grade 6-8, but limited to twenty students. We meet on Tuesdays 4:30-6:30pm to prepare for a December competition with the hopes of moving on to competitions next semester.


French Club - Sponsor:  Dr. Toioufik Houmadi

  • The French Club is an exciting opportunity for students to immerse themselves in French language and culture. Our purpose is to provide a fun and interactive environment where members can practice their French speaking skills, learn about Francophone traditions, cuisine, and history, and foster a deeper appreciation for global diversity. We aim to enhance linguistic proficiency and cultural awareness through engaging activities and discussions. 
  • This club is open to students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades, with a maximum of 20 students to ensure a personalized experience. 
  • The French Club will meet throughout the entire school year on Thursdays before school or after school from. 
  • The membership fee is $60, which covers both your club membership and a French Club T-shirt.


HOSA-Future Health Professionals - Sponsors:  RhonNeisha Sharpless

HOSA is a student-led organization that empowers future health professionals to develop leadership skills, explore careers in healthcare, and gain hands-on experience through competitions, service projects, and conferences. Our chapter provides students with opportunities to learn about various health careers, engage in community service, and build skills such as teamwork, public speaking, and critical thinking.

Purpose and Goals:
The purpose of HOSA is to inspire and support students interested in the healthcare field by providing leadership development, professional exposure, and real-world learning experiences. 

Our goals include:
Introducing students to various healthcare careers
Promoting leadership and service within the school and community
Preparing students for success in competitive events and health-related challenges
Encouraging healthy living and informed decision-making

Grade Levels:
Open to all students in grades 6–8.

Student Limit:
There is no limit to the number of students who can participate.

Meeting Schedule:
Meetings will be held once a week on either Mondays or Tuesdays (day may vary based on school calendar), from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM. HOSA will run for the full academic year.

Cost:
$75 membership fee

What the Fee Covers:
The fee covers the student’s official HOSA registration and a club T-shirt. Additional fees may apply for students who choose to attend conferences, participate in competitive events, or travel."


Jazz/Pep Band - Sponsor:  Eisenhower Belle

  • Jazz and Pep band are ensembles for existing 7th and 8th grade band students that would like to learn a different style of music and would like to play music at events outside of regular class instruction. 
  • There are no limited number of students to these ensembles. 
  • Jazz Band will meet on Tuesdays and Pep Band on Thursdays from 4:30pm-6pm. 
  • The cost of being in the Pep Band will be $40 that covers the uniform (for new members only) and Jazz Band $10 that covers the cost of a T-Shirt.


LOTUS Mentoring Program - Sponsors:  Daveon Steward, Brittany Johnson, Mona Arestil

  • We are pleased to inform you about Shiloh Middle School’s LOTUS mentoring program for our 6th-8th grade female students. LOTUS stands for Ladies Of Tenacity, Uniqueness, and Strength. The purpose of this program is to establish a mentoring relationship between female school-based staff that will provide your scholar with the opportunity to realize both personal development goals, and academic goals.
  • Mentors will meet with their mentees for at least 30 minutes weekly to discuss any areas of academic concern and/or to complete various skill-building activities centered around social emotional development (examples: time management, emotional expression, self-esteem, communication, decision-making etc). The times of these meetings will be discussed individually between the mentee and their mentor.
  • Mentees and mentors will also be expected to attend monthly whole group workshops after school starting in September. There is a $35 participation fee which will cover light refreshments during monthly meetings and any additional materials needed such as arts/craft supplies. The fee can be paid on My Payments Plus. Manga Club - Sponsor:  Candice Mathews

  • Manga Club is open to any students who enjoy reading manga, anime, and learning about Japanese culture. This club will meet in the mornings once a week beginning in September.


Morning News Broadcasting Club

  • Students in Video Broadcast Club produce the morning news show.  Students are selected based upon application tryout.  Video Broadcast Club meets daily from 8:30 a.m. to 9:10 a.m.  Students must be able to be dropped of at school in the mornings to join this club.   Open to all grade levels and has a limit of 12 students. Cost: $15.00 and includes a tshirt.


Photography Club - Sponsor:  George Jean-Noel

  • The Shiloh Middle School Photography Club offers students a fun and creative opportunity to explore the art of photography. Through hands-on activities, photo walks, and collaborative projects, students will learn the basics of composition, lighting, and editing while expressing themselves through visual storytelling. 
  • The club’s goals are to foster creativity, build confidence, and encourage teamwork through engaging photo challenges and end-of-semester exhibitions. Open to students in grades 6 through 8, the club is limited to 20 participants to ensure a personalized and enriching experience. 
  • The club will meet twice a month during the fall semester, with meeting dates and times to be determined. 
  • There is a $25 fee to join, which covers access to photography equipment and editing software, printing photos for displays, light snacks during meetings, and materials for the final showcase event.

 

Podcasting Club - Sponsors:  Candice Mathews & Erika Livingston

  • A club for students interested in all things podcasting.  Students will work as a group to plan and record student-led podcast episodes.  Students will learn audio editing and production skills. Open to all grade levels!  A maximum of 10 students will be accepted.  
  • We will meet Tuesday mornings from 8:15 am to 9:00 am. 
  • Limited to 10 students. 
  • Cost is $15.00.


Step Team - Sponsors:  Synquawna Simms

  • The Step Team is a dynamic and inclusive group dedicated to the art of stepping, a percussive dance form that uses the body as an instrument to create intricate rhythms and beats through stomping, clapping, and vocal expressions. Our team celebrates creativity, discipline, and unity, blending movement and sound to tell powerful stories and foster a sense of community among members.
  • The purpose of the Step Team is to promote cultural expression by celebrating the rich history and significance of stepping while embracing diversity. We aim to foster teamwork and leadership by building camaraderie and collaboration through synchronized routines and group performances. 
  • Additionally, the Step Team encourages personal growth by helping members develop confidence, discipline, and perseverance through rigorous practice and performance opportunities. We strive to inspire school spirit by representing our school proudly at events, competitions, and community activities, showcasing our skills and dedication. Lastly, the Step Team empowers creativity by providing a space for members to choreograph routines, contribute ideas, and express themselves artistically.
  • Our team welcomes students of all skill levels and backgrounds, united by a shared passion for rhythm, movement, and self-expression. For the first 15 minutes of each practice, we will condition with running, squats, stretching, wall sits, burpees, etc. We require conditioning both at practice and at home. At the first practice every month, we send home a guided conditioning plan with the steppers. The at-home conditioning should take about 15-20 minutes per day.
  • All grade levels can partake in the step team. We are limit to 10 students every year. Step Team practices Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30pm-6:00pm for both semesters until April 24. Dues are $100, covers the T-Shirt and Hoodie. "


Readers Rally - Sponsors:  Candice Mathews & Carol-Lynn Owens

  • A reading competition club where students read 10 chapter books throughout the year and compete against other schools in February 2026. Open to all grade levels and will meet on Wednesday afternoons from 4:30pm to 5:30pm.


Soccer Club - Sponsor:  Cristian Rivas

  • Our Middle School Soccer program offers students in grades 6–8 an exciting opportunity to develop their athletic skills, build teamwork, and enjoy the fast-paced game of soccer. Open to players of all experience levels, Gender-specific team focuses on teaching the fundamentals of the sport, including dribbling, passing, shooting, and defensive strategy.
  • Practices are designed to be fun and challenging, with an emphasis on skill development, sportsmanship, and physical fitness. Players will participate in regular practices, intra-school games, and may compete against other schools in our district.
  • To ensure quality coaching and meaningful playing time for each participant, the team will be capped at 22 players, including substitutes. All interested students must participate in tryouts, where coaches will assess effort, attitude, skill level, and teamwork to determine final team selection.
  • There is a $250 participation fee, which covers uniforms, team registration fees, and referees for the season.
  • The season will begin in the second semester, with an official start date to be announced. Additional information about tryouts and schedules will be shared closer to the start of the season.
  • Whether you're new to soccer or looking to sharpen your competitive edge, this program encourages students to stay active, make new friends, and grow both on and off the field.


SOW Beautiful Garden Club - Sponsors:  Phyllis Stallworth & CoTrena Smith

  • SMS Sow Beautiful Garden Club can turn school grounds into living classrooms and empowers students to explore nature. This is an interactive club that will stimulate knowledge and love of gardening in our students. 
  • SBGC promotes student’s skills beyond academics, as they learn patience and leadership, as well as sustainability, environmental education, and growing healthy foods, with the joy of growing their own edible plants through hands-on gardening experiences. 
  • SBGC is open to all grade levels (6th, 7th, and 8th), with a maximum capacity of 20 students. 
  • The cost to join SBGC is $35.00, which covers the club T-shirt and materials for all SBGC activities and events.


STEM Club - Sponsors:  Phyllis Stallworth & Carolyn Scott

What is the SMS STEM Club?
The Shiloh Middle School STEM Club is a fun, hands-on way to explore science, technology, engineering, and math. Students will work together on exciting projects, solve real-world problems, and build teamwork and critical-thinking skills.

The club is open to all middle grades (6th, 7th, and 8th) with a capacity of 30 students. If you’re interested, attend the interest meeting before school in late August 2025 (exact date TBA on your morning announcements, posted online, and sent out via the ParentSquare App). If parents are interested and request it, we may also offer an after-school parent info session at the end of August.

When and Where Do We Meet?
Club meetings will tentatively be held on Thursdays from 4:30 pm (after the 2nd bus wave) until 6:00 pm in B Hall, Room 4.113 (Ms. Stallworth’s classroom) unless otherwise specified.

What Makes SMS STEM Club Special?
This club is an evolution of our long-standing Science Fair program. All student participants in SMS STEM Club will take part in the 2025–2026 SMS Science Fair (Sept. 2025–Feb 2026). After Science Fair season ends in February 2026, the SMS STEM Club will dive into student-selected STEM activities during our after-school meetings.

Cost
Joining the SMS STEM Club costs $0.00!
We’ll fund supplies, shirts, and activities through fundraising and grants. Families may donate if they’d like. If extra funds are needed later, we’ll ask for small contributions, but no student will ever miss out because of cost.

Attendance and participation are very important!
You don’t have to be a “math person” or a “science person” to join! 

STEM is for everyone!

Mission
Our mission is to create a safe, structured, supportive, and fun environment for student-athletes to have a positive and meaningful experience participating on a successful middle school athletic team. We promote student’s success in the classroom to build leaders for our society’s future. 

Vision
To enhance our athletes’ talents and abilities by providing challenging workouts within a safe supportive environment. 

  • The track team consists of both running and field events ranging from the 100, 200, 400, to the shotput, discuss, and long jump. 
  • The season will begin the first day of second semester and will meet Monday-Friday from 4:45 p.m. to 6:30/7:00 p.m. during the spring semester. 
  • This organization is open to all grade levels (6-8) and has a limit of 70 students (Boys and Girls combined). 
  • Cost: $450.00- $500.00(cost goes towards uniforms, track meet entry, lunches, bus transportation) 


Yearbook Club - Sponsors:  Candice Mathews & Cutrena Morgan

  • Yearbook club members will take photos at school events and help create this year's yearbook. Grades 6-8 can apply. Limited to 12 students. Group will meet in the afternoons every other Tuesday beginning in September from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Cost is $20 and includes staff t-shirt.
